We didn't do much of anything in Titusville except go to shore for dog walks preferring to spend more time in St. Augustine. We did note that the anchorage in Titusville would also be a great spot for a rocket launch should the timing work out for us in the future. On to the next stop...Daytona. We arrived there on a Saturday evening. The boaters were out in masses. Think of the ICW as the super highway for boaters. The chop in the water gets to be a bit much and we will try to avoid this craziness in the future. Again this is just a stop for rest and a stroll on shore for the puppies. We decided it would be a pretty long day from Daytona to St. Augustine so we planned a stop at Ft. Matanzas, which is just about 12 miles short of St. Augustine and I'm glad we did. The current during a good part of this day was very strong and we were slowed to about 3 to 4 knots in many areas. It was a fun cruise however as there are many houses and small towns to view as well as an occasional dolphin.

Ft. Matanzas was a really nice stop and I'm so glad we did. We were able to anchor in this area right outside the fort which blocked some of the 10 to 20 knots winds that were hitting us from the north. It was a little bit of a challenge to anchor but we are getting to be quite adept at anchoring. Headsets may look a bit geeky but they truly are worth any mocking you may get from others. Our anchoring arguments have been minimal. And anyone that has sailed (or lived) with us knows that the occasional bickering does occur. Our first attempt at anchoring here was not successful as we felt we were dragging. I'm glad we decided to move because the next spot put us closer to the beach and provided better shelter from the wind. Unfortunately the Fort was closed due to Covid-19 but we still went to the beach to walk around.

Next to St. Augustine. We arrived around 1330 on Tuesday, June 16, 2020. We picked up a mooring ball at the St. Augustine City Marina. This marina is quite large and they run it like an airfield with an office overlooking the southern mooring field, slips and fuel docks. We were a short dinghy ride to the dinghy dock and in the heart of St. Augustine's historic district. We had never been before and we really enjoyed the town. So much history and interesting architecture to enjoy. One thing to be aware of when using this marina is the enormous amount of boat traffic and the amount of wake they create. I don't think we have ever been rocked as significantly as we were in this mooring field. We still had a wonderful time and we would definitely stop again.

Next we depart for Beaufort, SC. We will be taking the outside waters so that we may actually sail the boat!
